Useful, Decent, and Fun

While adult YouTube (despite its strict rules) is full of content parents wouldn’t want their children to see, it still has great possibilities for learning, playing, and what’s called edutainment. That’s the mission of YouTube Kids project.

It offers its young users a whole lot of fun and interesting videos, including illustrative videos and lectures, documental films amusing enough for children, video lessons of languages, math and so on, and also animated and live shows for kids.

Parents concerned about content more than the creators of the project can set up their own filters. Though the default filters are designed to be family-friendly, somehow an inappropriate video can slip through them all. If you run into it, you can report it, and it will be removed, and the filters will be adjusted better.

Growing up with Videos

As kids grow, their interests shift. So does the filter. To help YouTube Kids review its policy towards your growing children, you can adjust its filters, so the app unlocks the content made for older kids. You may just block a channel or a particular video to make it unavailable for your kids only, or report it if you think it’s not meant for children at all.

Younger ones will enjoy shows by Talking Tom, Monster High, Dreamworks TV and so on. As they grow older, they’ll discover shows conducted by young music stars or prominent game designers, and so on. But what they can watch depends on filter settings.

There is also a timer that limits the watching time. You can adjust it, so the child doesn’t get eye-sick or distracted from lessons for too long. The app is free, but it shows ads while watching.

• Lots of content for fun or learning;

• Smart filter system;

• Fine parental control adjustments;

• Time limiter.

• Videos aren’t checked manually, so some adult one may slip in;

• The app shows ads;

• Not available worldwide.
