If your cat loves fruit, know that he is in good company, many cats are fond of the fruits that we too “human” bring to the table.
The first thing I want to tell you is that fruit is also good for the home cat, it is rich in good vitamins and micronutrients, it is refreshing and when it is hot it is also refreshing.
The important thing is to give it to him in moderation, as a special treat.
But there are some fruits that are good for him and that you can give him as a reward without any problems, and there are fruits that hurt him.
For us they are harmless but cats can give gastrointestinal problems, their digestive system is that of the obliged carnivores and cannot digest and assimilate certain types of vegetable fibers.
So let’s start with the list of types of fruits to avoid, you don’t have to offer your kitty:
- citrus fruits
- they can cause gastric problems and are still unattractive, the acid smell annoys cats.
- both the fresh fruit and the sauces and preparations containing avocado are not suitable for the cat, peel and seed contain a substance that can cause pancreatic problems for cats.
- grapes and raisins pass
- they can cause kidney problems so keep them away from the house cat
- dried fruit
- can cause digestive problems, kidney problems and loose stools, always to be avoided.
Greenlight instead for apples, pears, bananas, peaches, apricots, melon, and strawberries but in all cases, the fruit should be washed, peeled and seeded.
In particular, the seeds of apples and peaches are very toxic to the cat (even more so if it is a puppy), so go ahead with a morsel if the seeds and skin are removed.
Pesticides are bad for them too, so always remove the peel of the fruits or wash those that don’t peel well.
So, does your cat love fruit or have you never tried to offer it to him?
