Browsing New World
It’s hard now to find a website with no pop-up ads in front of you or banners all over the page. Of course, they need to monetize their work, but it becomes intolerable too often. AdBlock appeared to put an end to this ad havoc.
As you install AdBlock Plus, you only need to run it once. It shows you how to set up your browser so AdBlock can do its work in there. Then you just run Safari and enjoy new Internet with significantly fewer ads (though some still infiltrate through).
So far Adblock Plus iOS version is there, while there’s no Android analog. Instead of a plugin Adblock features its own browser for Android (due to Google banning it from banning ads in Chrome). This browser is also available for iOS, but a separate module for Safari will be of more use to those preferring the default browser.
Ads Versus AdBlock
After it’s activated, you’ll rarely need to run the app. You may update databases manually (if you suppose you’ve missed some updates), or make an exception for some domains that use smart anti-adblocking. Alas, you’ll have to do this more often than you’d like to. AdBlock popularity plays a bad joke on it: it’s the first target of adblocker detectors.
To avoid this, the developers qualify some decent ads as “acceptable” and let them through. So sites retain a good share of its income (otherwise cut off), and users don’t feel like turning away. If you wish, you can turn off acceptable ads too. But if suddenly you see 404 instead of your favorite site, you know who’s to blame.
+ Efficient ad-blocking;
+ Exceptions can be added manually;
+ Doesn’t impact the performance;
+ Reduces the risk of malware or phishing.
- Some sites may use anti-adblocking;
- Reported missing some ads.
Still Making It Better
No, there’s no ultimate ad solution, as long as sites live on ad monetization. But there are ways to reduce that ad madness, and one of the ways to do this is to download AdBlock Plus for your browser
